A Special Commission from Grant’s Wee Workshop.
I was privileged to complete a meaningful commission for a family commemorating their late father – a proud member of the Black Watch, who provided the Guard of Honour for the XIII Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1986.
This handcrafted plaque showcases both the front and reverse sides of a commemorative medal from the Games:-
- the front features a striking embossed image of Edinburgh Castle, a symbol of Scottish pride and resilience, and
- the reverse bears the official inscription and emblem of the 1986 Commonwealth Games, marking a moment of national celebration
Mounted on carefully selected reclaimed wood, the display was designed to honour both personal history and shared heritage. It now serves as a lasting tribute to a life of service, memory, and connection to Scotland’s story.
I’m proud to help preserve such legacies through thoughtful craftsmanship.
If you have a story to honour, I’d be delighted to see if I could help bring it to life.
